Toyota/Lexus Showroom – Zalka

Info

The Toyota/Lexus Showroom in Zalka is the first top-down construction building project in the Middle East. It was constructed according to Toyota/Lexus Japan’s specifications for service bays, showrooms etc.

The water level was at -2.0 meters, and the building’s 5 basements went down to -23.5 meters below the water level. Four of the basements have a 4.3 meter clear ceiling height to allow for car lifting.

30-meters deep diaphragm walls were constructed, but since the required anchoring failed the required pull out loading, the basements were built from the top down. Footings were constructed to support the upper structure’s load after reaching the -23.5 meter level. Since column spacing is 15 meters, 2-way post-tension slabs were constructed.
